CVCA Meets Tonight
The Crescenta Valley Community Association will meet tonight, Thursday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the community room at the La Crescenta Library. The agenda includes discussion of the planned measure to move Glendale elections to the date of the state primary. State Laws Versus Local Laws
The community is invited to a special meeting concerning the impact of state laws on congregate living, accessory dwelling units (also known as granny flats) and recreational marijuana and how they affect local laws.
Glendale’s Community Development Dept. and the Glendale Police Dept. will be at Brand Library Auditorium, 1601 W. Mountain St., on Thursday, March 1 at 7 p.m. to discuss the issues and what municipalities can do.
Northwest Glendale Homeowners Association is partnering with the city for this informative free meeting that is open to everyone.
Babysitting Classes at USC-VHH
USC Verdugo Hills Hospital is offering a series of babysitting training. The classes are on the following Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: March 24, April 28, May 19 and June 23. The cost of the class is $45.

Arbor Day Celebration Planned
The community is invited to Glendale’s 68th Arbor Day observance on Tuesday, March 6 at 10 a.m. There will be light refreshments with program at 10:30 a.m. at the Casa Adobe de San Rafael.
This event recognizes those making donations of trees, and donors meeting the deadline will be presented with a certificate. Arbor Day remarks will be made by Stephanie Landregan, director for the Landscape Architecture Program and the Horticulture and Gardening Program at UCLA Extension.
Participate by donating $50 for a 15-gallon tree or $150 for a specimen tree to be planted in available City of Glendale parks areas. The tree donation deadline is Feb. 28; go to www.GlendaleBeautiful.org to download the donation form to mail with a check or to donate online with a credit card.
Arbor Day activities are presented by Glendale Beautiful, a nonprofit working for a beautiful and green Glendale, in cooperation with the city’s Community Services and Parks Dept.

Geology at the Rosemont Preserve with Hans Hoek
All are invited on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon for a look at the geology of the Rosemont Preserve and how it fits in the greater Los Angeles area led by Hans Hoek. Hoek is an avid outdoor enthusiast and has led treks in the Himalayas and herded sheep in Southern France.
Come and learn about the geologic puzzle of the Rosemont Preserve and how geology affects the types of development in a given area.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Please bring water, a hat and wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages, no reservations required, no pets please.
