Attempted Robbery in Galleria

EDIT: Number of suspects in custody updated from three to one.

An attempted robbery occurred today Saturday at Bhindi Jewelers in the Glendale Galleria at approximately 2:47 p.m. The suspects attempted a “smash and grab” type robbery according to Sgt. Dan Suttles, Glendale Police Dept.

A security guard surprised the suspects and fired one to three shots. No one was reported injured and the suspects fled the jewelry store. GPD and the mall security conducted a search and investigation and found three suspects, one of whom is now in custody.

The investigation is ongoing. At present, Suttles did not know if any of the suspects were armed with firearms but they did have hammers and objects to break glass. GPD has determined that the mall is safe; the Glendale Galleria did not shut down. It is open.

“This is not an active shooter situation,” said Suttles. “This was an attempted robbery.”

Anybody who saw anything is asked to contact GPD at (818) 548-4911.
