Students at Our Lady of Lourdes School in Tujunga kicked off the third trimester of school by taking learning on the road. Fifth grade students will venture to Oak Glen to Colonial Chesterfield at Riley’s Farm to experience a living history exploration of the American Revolutionary War with dramatic and cultural workshops and two mock battle scenarios.
Grades four, five and six will travel to the Environmental Learning Center at Hyperion. OLL’s Rose Cottage Preschool director Wendy Antonio-Diaz won free bus transportation for the trip while visiting the Discovery Cube in Lakeview Terrace. Through interactive exhibits, the students will learn the essential role of every individual for the future of water conservation, storm water capture, water recycling and the management of our solid resources. The children will hopefully be inspired to become future stewards of the environment.
At the end of February, students in grades one and two traveled to the Beckman Auditorium at CalTech in Pasadena to see a live play of “Henry and Mudge,” which they had been reading in language arts classes.
Our Lady of Lourdes School offers a full academic program including music, PE as well as performing arts for junior high students. Extracurricular activities include intermural sports, chess club, dance class, choir, robotics and cooking classes.
