Falcon Baseball Highlights

Before this week’s game against Los Osos, the Crescenta Valley varsity baseball team was 3-2 on the early season, after a 3-2 victory on Friday vs. Upland in the Bonita tournament, which was held from Feb. 24 to March 9. In the win, pitcher Luke Hempel (above) got the start. He went
4 1/3 innings, allowing two runs. Reliever Ty Langford came in later for the save. CV scored in the third and fourth innings. Vincent Parrott delivered a two-out RBI for the first run in the third. In the fourth, JD Schaffer drove in a run, scoring Brian Erickson. Issac Sung, who scored earlier, drove in the third and final run with a single to right field. CV was a stellar 25-2 in 2017, but lost to Capistrano Valley in the first round of the CIF playoffs.

The Falcons will play in the annual Babe Herman Tournament from March 17 to March 21. CV will take on Paramount on Saturday at 7 p.m. All games will be held at the Falcons’ home, Stengel Field, located at Verdugo Park.

CV begins Pacific League competition on March 27, and travels to Pasadena High School at 3:30 p.m. The season ends May 11 at Stengel Field against Arcadia at 7 p.m.
