Lincoln Foundation annual jogathon was held on March 12 on the campus of Lincoln Elementary School. Students from each class ran for 20 minutes over the course of the day at assigned times. Despite off and on inclement weather, parent volunteers cooled down the runners by spraying them with water bottles as they made their way around the temporary track. Volunteers also helped set up, break down, and mark off completed laps on the backs of the runners.
Special thanks were extended to the Korean Parents Club for providing the fruit for the runners at the end of their jogathon, as they do every year, in addition to manning the water stations and distributing popsicles. According to Rachelle Miller, Lincoln Foundation co-president and jogathon emcee, the money collected from the jogathon will be used to benefit student programs at Lincoln.
“Foundation pays for the primary music program, classroom and schoolwide enhancements, individual classroom grants and grade level grants – field trips, guest speakers, and assemblies,” said Miller.
Miller said that about $24,000 has been collected thus far and money is still being collected through this week.
To make a donation, checks can be made out to the Lincoln Foundation and dropped or mailed to the school at 4310 New York Ave., La Crescenta.
