Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?
Many people are like Indiana Jones and have a fear of snakes. For those who are like him, here’s a chance to learn more about snakes, other reptiles and amphibians.
On Saturday, April 7, the “Snake it Up” program will be presented at Deukmejian Wilderness Park. From 9 a.m. until noon, friends from the Southwestern Herpetologists Society will share their passion and knowledge for “herps.” The morning starts with a lecture on native snakes, lizards and amphibians (live animals will be in attendance) in the Trails and Open Space Office (Ranch House). Then participants are moving outside (rain or shine) for a moderately easy 1.5-mile hike through the park in search of local frogs and other amphibians.
This event is free, but a spot must be reserved by calling (818) 548-3795.
