ART FESTIVAL APPEAL WITHDRAWN

This year’s battle of dueling art festivals in the Montrose area has apparently been resolved, with a decision by the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce to withdraw its request for city approval of its event.

The chamber applied for use of the Paradise Ford property for a juried art show Nov. 14.

The city rejected the request after a protest from Dale Dawson, president of the Montrose Shopping Park Association, saying the event would compete with the weekly Harvest Market and the park’s annual Art and Crafts festival, as well as the holiday shopping season

The chamber appealed the decision, and then withdrew its action before it could come to council Tuesday.
