Crescenta Valley High School Theatre Dept. presents, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” at the MacDonald Auditorium.
“Spelling Bee” is a hilarious musical comedy that includes a lot of fun audience participation. It’s a great way to experience theatre and support Crescenta Valley High School’s Visual and Performing Arts program.
This is CVHS’s second musical this year, which is unusual because the school traditionally produces only one musical per year; however, “Spelling Bee” is not a grand musical like “Oliver” with a large cast. Instead, “Spelling Bee” has only nine actors from the advanced drama class. The show is directed by CVHS alumni Kaja Sondergaard and Rebecca Thomas with music directed by Tracey Thomas.
“Kaja and I really lucked out with our cast members,” Thomas said. “They’re all so incredibly talented and they made our job that much easier.”
The production opened last weekend and continues through April 28. Tickets can be purchased at the door 30 minutes prior to each show. The show is rated PG-13.
The remaining performance dates and times are April 26 at 4 p.m., April 27 at 7 p.m., and April 28 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The Crescenta Valley High School MacDonald Auditorium is located at 4400 Ramsdell Ave. in La Crescenta.
