The annual Civil War Days event was held recently at Rosemont Middle School. Students went from station to station learning about what it was like during the War Between the States.

Originally Civil War Days, which began several years ago, was led by teachers Lynn McGinnis and Christine Collins-Cross, who have since retired. The tradition continued with female teachers dressing in hoop skirts and men in uniform while working at one of several stations. The stations reenacted several key events that occurred during the war, including a reenactment of President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination at Ford Theatre, and another gave a crash course on how to be a Civil War field doctor.

Civil War Days is a way to bring history to life for the school’s eighth grader students.
