On May 1, the Glendale City Council confirmed the appointment of Roubik Golanian as the assistant city manager. Golanian has served the Glendale community for the past 18 years through the positions of senior civil engineer, city engineer, deputy director of public works/city engineer and, most recently, director of public works. He has been serving as the director of public works since June 3, 2014.
Golanian has more than 29 years of professional engineering and management experience in municipal and private sector administration, and infrastructure project development and implementation. Before his career in Glendale, Golanian served in the private sector as an engineering technician, project engineer and supervising engineer for a private consulting firm, as well as the County of Fresno and cities of Ceres and Torrance respectively.
“Roubik is a talented engineer with strong leadership skills. He has a proven track record of accomplishments and has demonstrated a solid understanding of city management practices,” said City Manager Yasmin Beers. “He is admired for his skills when faced with unique challenges and I look forward to having him be our assistant city manager.”

Golanian holds a Bachelor of Science with honors degree in civil engineering and a Master of Art degree in organizational leadership. He is registered in the State of California as a professional civil engineer. Golanian and his wife Maria have three sons: Christopher, Alexander and Mathew.
