Glendale Unified School District and 18 GUSD schools have been named to the 2017-18 Educational Results Partnership honor roll for high achievement and student success. The honor roll program, sponsored by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE), is part of a national effort to identify high performing schools and districts that are improving student outcomes.
This is the third year ERP has recognized honor roll school districts and GUSD has been recognized every year. It is one of only nine public school districts in California to receive this honor for three consecutive years.
Additionally, 11 GUSD schools have been named 2017-18 “star schools,” high performing schools serving higher poverty communities. Among these were Clark Magnet High School and Glendale High School.
Seven more GUSD schools have been recognized as “scholar schools,” high performing schools without significant levels of low-income students. These include Crescenta Valley High School, Rosemont Middle School, Fremont Elementary School, Monte Vista Elementary School, Mountain Avenue Elementary School, Valley View Elementary School and Verdugo Academy independent study program.
The 2017-18 honor roll is developed by Educational Results Partnership (ERP), a nonprofit organization that applies data science to help improve student outcomes and college and career readiness. ERP maintains the nation’s largest database on student achievement and utilizes this data to identify higher-performing schools and districts. School districts that receive the ERP honor roll distinction have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement and college readiness, improvement in achievement levels over time, and a reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.
“We are proud to be recognized as an ERP honor roll school district by educational and business leaders in California,” said GUSD Superintendent Winfred B. Roberson Jr. “Our teachers, administrators, and classified staff are committed to maximizing student achievement and continuously improving our practices. We are pleased to see our hard work and dedication translating to positive outcomes for all our students.”
