New General Manager, Public Hearing Planned
The board of directors of the Crescenta Valley Water District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Nem Ochoa as the District’s general manager. Mr. Ochoa will begin his new position on June 18 following the resignation of Mr. Thomas Love who served the District for the past three years. The selection culminates an extensive recruiting process in which many well-qualified candidates applied for the position.
Mr. Ochoa has extensive experience at both retail and wholesale water agencies. Most recently, he worked as the assistant general manager at Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District providing oversight of the engineering, operations, and water resources departments. Prior he worked as the engineering manager for East Valley Water District and Jurupa Community Service District.
Mr. Ochoa also has wholesale water experience working at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California as a water resource engineer. Mr. Ochoa’s broad experience and emphasis on water supply, infrastructure, financial management, public and political outreach, and organizational development prepare him well as the next general manager.
Mr. Ochoa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and Master of Business Administration from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Mr. Ochoa is also licensed as a professional civil engineer.

In other CVWD news, on Tuesday, June 12 at 6 p.m., Crescenta Valley Water District will hold a public hearing on a proposed water rate increase. The hearing will be held at the District’s administration office located at 2700 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.
At the hearing, staff will present information regarding a rate increase that is based on operation and maintenance costs as well as using water rates to fund capital improvement projects to improve the water system.
Any CVWD customer or property owner may file a written protest of the proposed rate changes by sending a letter to CVWD, 2700 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta, CA 91214. A valid protest letter must be received at the main office by Tuesday, June 12 at 4 p.m. Protest letters must include your name, your CVWD service address, a statement of protest and an original signature.
Protest letters will be tabulated and presented to the board of directors at the public hearing. Any CVWD customer or property owner may appear at the public hearing.
