Accident on Briggs Creates Power Outage

The driver of a Kia, a 65-year-old male, apparently lost control of the vehicle while traveling northbound on Briggs Avenue at about 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The vehicle drifted to the east and collided with a utility pole near the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station. The vehicle then overturned on its side and slid to the sidewalk where it went back onto its tires and landed in the front yard of the station, according to Officer Cooper of the California Highway Patrol.

When the vehicle hit the utility pole it caused electric wires to fall across the road.

Briggs Avenue was closed to traffic both south and north bobound as Southern California Edison workers replaced the pole.

Los Angeles County Fire Dept. monitored the situation as some of the live electrical wires landed in a tree on the west side of Briggs Avenue causing some fire concerns.

The driver was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The accident is under investigation by CHP. Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
