PFAR HOSTS FUNDRAISER
Today, Thursday, June 21, the Pasadena-Foothills Association of Realtors Charitable Foundation kicks off the summer with its first fundraiser of the year: The 27th Annual Charity Wine Tasting and Auction Event. It will be held at the home of John Fairbanks in Altadena and will feature an open courtyard allowing for more opportunities for charitable giving.
Attendees will partake in a silent and live auction, along with participating in a wine toss and other fun surprises and giveaways.

AFTER HOURS GET TOGETHER
La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce and Community Association is hosting a community afterhours get-together (mixer) presented by Flintridge Riding Club tonight, Thursday, June 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The cost of admission is $10 for members; $20 for non-members. A progressive raffle is also being held.

LOCAL AUTHOR TO MAKE PRESENTATION
On Friday, June 22 at 7 p.m., Flintridge Bookstore & Coffeehouse welcomes epic fantasy authors Christopher Husberg and D.J. Butler for a reading, discussion and signing of their recent books. Husberg’s just released “Blood Requiem” is the third installment in his Chaos Queen Quintet. D.J. Butler’s “Witchy Winter” is the sequel to his “Witchy Eye.”
Then, on Thursday, June 28 at 7p.m., Flintridge Bookstore hosts a presentation by La Cañada Flintridge resident Donald Lee Sheppard, author of “The Dividends of Decency: How Values-Based Leadership will Help Business Flourish in Trump’s America.”
In his new book, Sheppard underlines the importance of businesses maintaining strong moral values not simply because it is “the right thing to do” but because the practice pays off with better long-term bottom-line performance. He supports his premise with insights into the struggles he faced in his own business endeavors.

REDBIRD EVENTS

NCL HOSTING BLOOD DRIVE
The Glendale Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. will hold its 12th annual “From the Heart” American Red Cross Blood Drive on Sunday, June 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at USC-VHH. The summer is a time when blood supplies are very low and donors are urgently needed. SUNLAND TUJUNGA PREPARES FOR 4TH OF JULY PARADE
The Sunland Tujunga Shadow Hills Rotary Club is again hosting the Sunland Tujunga 4th of July Parade. The parade will start at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4 on Foothill Boulevard at Summitrose Street. The parade will run down Foothill Boulevard to Sunland Boulevard, and is free of charge for both participants and spectators.

BINGO FUN BENEFITS BOY SCOUTS

ATTENTION MUSIC LOVERS
Dr. Ted Stern, a professor of music, is again conducting a series of music appreciation classes for adults in the community. This ongoing series is for non-musicians and musicians alike and explores the histories of composers and their music. This new series of classes will cover the topic “Popular Music Before the 20th Century (Not Everyone in Vivaldi’s Time Was Listening to Concertos!).”

POLLACK AT SIERRA CLUB
The Crescenta Valley Sierra Club Group will present Alan Pollack’s, “Restoring Habitat, One Yard at a Time” on Tuesday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library.
Pollack’s slide show and lecture is about gardening for wildlife, a presentation of the organization, “Audubon-at-Home.” His lively and informative program comes with handouts of printed materials. He adds that he has been a lifelong Sierra Club member and has lectured previously to several Sierra Club chapters.
The program begins following news about conservation and outings. This is a free event and everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served.

CHASING HISTORY AT BOLTON HALL
On Saturday, July 14 at 2:30 p.m., Tujunga’s Bolton Hall Museum and Little Landers Historical Society invite everyone to join in on a special event and a fun way to learn more about local history. “Chasing History” is a fundraiser for Bolton Hall Museum to help the Museum and its volunteers continue providing free historical public programs and exhibits. Little Landers Historical Society has identified and created clues for 16 of the most interesting and intriguing foothill historical sites from Lake View Terrace to La Crescenta. Participants will register a vehicle for the event and ask friends and family members to ride along as part of their team. Using the clues provided, each team will find and photograph as many locations as possible in the time allotted.
Everyone will start the quest at Bolton Hall Museum at 2:30 p.m. and will gather at McGroarty Arts Center by 6 p.m. for prize awards, photo viewing and sharing tales of the day’s adventures. A Mexican dinner, drinks and dessert will be available for purchase. A vehicle registration fee of $40 includes clues to all 16 locations. For a $75 vehicle registration, actual directions to each location will be provided.

MUSEUM BY MOONLIGHT
Bolton Hall Museum celebrates July’s full moon with a special evening event on July 27 starting at 6 p.m. and lasting until midnight. Visitors are encouraged to arrive any time during the evening and stay as long as they like to enjoy moon games, music, videos, treats, history and telescopic full moon viewing.
This event is family-friendly, free, open to the public and everyone is welcome.

LOCAL YOGA CLASS
Gentle/level one yoga classes continue on Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s of the Mountains Church.
This class will improve joint mobility, flexibility, muscle strength and balance and will include some restorative yoga poses to help the body heal its own aches and pains by engaging the parasympathetic system. A stroke support group hosted by Dignity Health Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center meets the second Tuesday of each month from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Rehabilitation Conference Room on the third floor of the hospital.

NEWS FROM FRIENDS OF THE SUNLAND-TUJUNGA BRANCH LIBRARY
The bookstore of the Friends of the Sunland-Tujunga branch of the library, which is located inside the library, is filled with used books on almost every subject. There are books on psychology, religion, self-help, cooking, classics and many more subjects. It is open during library hours (except evenings). Prices range from 10 cents to a few dollars. All books are donated.
All monies collected from the sale of these books support the Sunland-Tujunga Branch Library in purchasing new books, DVDs and equipment. The Friends also supports programs for children and young adults as well as adults. It is a 501(c)(3) organization, so donations are tax deductible. FREE DIABETES COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLASS
The Diabetes Care Center at Glendale Adventist Medical Center invites the community to a free diabetes community education class held every Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the hospital (Committee Room A).

BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP AT Y
The Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA, in partnership with the La Leche League, is hosting a monthly lactation and infant development support group to help support new mothers. This monthly group meets on the third Friday of each month from noon-1 p.m. This group is free and open to the community and will answer all breastfeeding-related questions that new mothers may have.
The Y is also offering a Mindful Parenting Course designed to help parents connect to their children and raise them to thrive. This course is adapted from the work of Dan Siegal, M.D and will focus on reducing daily stress while connecting with your child. The classes meet weekly on Tuesdays. The course is open to all and there is a fee to attend.
