The Assistance League of Glendale raised its scholarship distribution amount to $1,500 this year and included for the first time male students as well as female. In memory of a previous scholarship chair, the Lu Hismeh scholarship was added to the roster of scholarships distributed. The scholarship is dedicated to someone going into education.
The Assistance League raises funds through its volunteer work at Thrift Alley, a thrift store located at 314 E. Harvard St. All profits go back into the community through Operation School Bell, Authors & Illustrators, Senior Neighborhood Fellowship and its scholarship program. Thrift Alley is open Wednesday thru Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
