General Meeting of CVTC
The monthly general meeting of the Crescenta Valley Town Council is tonight, Thursday, July 19 at 7 p.m. in the community room of the La Crescenta Library. There will be a presentation by the Los Angeles County Dept. of Regional Planning regarding the Density Bonus Ordinance Update.
The Density Bonus Ordinance Update will further ease and incentivize the development of affordable and senior housing. It is one of several policy initiatives underway to increase housing choices in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.
The La Crescenta Library is located at 2809 Foothill Blvd. All community members are welcome to attend CVTC meetings. Those with any questions, comments or concerns can email contact@thecvcouncil.com or address the council during the meeting.

 

CVWD Hosting Dedication Ceremony
The Crescenta Valley Water District is holding a dedication ceremony of the reactivation of its Well 2 and new nitrate removal treatment facility. The public is invited to the event, which takes place on Thursday, July 26 at 9 a.m. at the CVWD Ordunio Reservoir Site, 4029 Lowell Ave. in La Crescenta.

 

CVCA Hosting Meeting
The Crescenta Valley Community Association will have its monthly meeting on Thursday, July 26 at 7 p.m. The CVCA is a cross-jurisdictional, volunteer organization that encourages collaboration between community groups so that the Crescenta Valley can be represented with one voice.

Portantino Opens Local Office
Senator Anthony J. Portantino and the Glendale Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting for his district office at 116 E. Broadway, Suite 204 in Glendale.
Portantino’s new office opening highlighted the talented work that was created by the GCC Professional Development Center. Students from the Professional Development Center created the bronze California State Senate logo that adorns the outside wall of the office.
In addition to numerous chamber members the ribbon cutting was attended by the entire GCC board, Mayor Sinanyan, Councilmembers Divine and Gharpetian and PDC faculty and students.

 

Native Plants of the Rosemont Preserve
Visitors are invited to enjoy the natural beauty and take a leisurely morning stroll through the Rosemont Preserve on July 28. Join AFC’s Programs and Lands Administrator Tim Martinez from 9-11 a.m. for an exploration of the Preserve and the native plants that call it home. Martinez will point out the different native plants in the Preserve and talk about which are edible and how they were used as a food source by the Native Americans who lived here before settlers developed the area.
Due to limited parking at the Preserve, please park at Two Strike Park at 5107 Rosemont Ave. Wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail and bring a hat and water if it’s hot. Those who have any questions can contact RosemontFriends@gmail.com.

‘Silents’ in the Park
On Saturday, July 28 at 8 p.m., projectionist Joe Renaudo will show some of his favorite silent movies under the stars at Two Strike Park using his 100-year-old hand-cranked projector. He will be accompanied by special guest musician Cliff Ritallick. All are invited to this free event; bring a blanket or lawn chair.Bake sale will be offered by Friends of Rockhaven (treat donations can be brought to the park at 7:30 p.m.).
This program is offered by the Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley and LA County Parks.

Coffee and Conversation with Assemblymember Friedman
Learn what’s happening in Sacramento by attending Coffee and Conversation with Assemblymember Laura Friedman on Sunday, July 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Barnsdall Art Park – Pine Grove in Hollywood.
Friedman will also take questions after the update.
