REST FARMHOUSE INSPIRED HOSTS DINNER SERIES
The Dervaes Family of The Urban Homestead and Rest Farmhouse Inspired executive chef Kristina Evans are hosting farm and chef dinner series to highlight the importance of eating locally and supporting local farms and restaurants.
These open-air dinners will be held at the Urban Homestead, hosted by the Dervaes Family and Evans. The family-style dinners showcase the bounty of the farm and local food purveyors.
The next dinner is tonight, Thursday, July 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and tickets are $135 per person. Price includes garden reception, Homestead tour, family-style dinner and dessert.

NEW EXHIBIT AT BOLTON HALL
An opportunity to see what the foothills community looked like “in the olden days” is the centerpiece of “Panoramas of Sunland-Tujunga,” a new exhibit opening on July 27 at Bolton Hall in Tujunga.
Some of the best panoramic photos from its extensive photo collection will be on display with some parts having been enlarged to show details that may not be noticeable at first glance. The community had wide, open spaces before all the houses and apartments were built. Maybe guests can even find their own street!
Enjoy the beautiful views from various vantage points around town.
The exhibit will continue through Jan. 27, 2019. Free admission (suggested donation $3 per person).

LEARN ABOUT THE IMMIGRATION CRISIS
Discover what they don’t want you to know about the immigration crisis. On Friday, July 27 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge, the Republican Club of the Foothills will host a discussion of the immigration crisis on the state’s southern border. What is happening? Why is it happening? How long has it been going on and why are we only hearing about it now? What kinds of solutions should be urged to elected representatives at the local, state and federal levels?

MUSEUM BY MOONLIGHT
Bolton Hall Museum celebrates July’s full moon with a special evening event on July 27 starting at 6 p.m. and lasting until midnight. Visitors are encouraged to arrive any time during the evening and stay as long as they like to enjoy moon games, music, videos, treats, history and telescopic full moon viewing.
This event is family-friendly, free, open to the public and everyone is welcome.

MUSIC IN THE PARK
The City of La Cañada Music in the Park Summer Concert Series is held at Memorial Park (at the corner of La Cañada and Foothill boulevards) during the summer on Sunday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. These free concerts continue through the end of August. Featured bands play a variety of music from rock and roll, blues, reggae, and country. All are welcome to bring a picnic basket, blankets, and lawn chairs and enjoy an evening with family and friends.

This ongoing series is for non-musicians and musicians alike and explores the histories of composers and their music. This new series of classes will cover the topic “Popular Music Before the 20th Century (Not Everyone in Vivaldi’s Time Was Listening to Concertos!).”

‘REIMAGINING’ AMERICA AT ACE/121 GALLERY
Presented by the Arroyo Arts Collective and Ace/121 Gallery, “Reimagining America” is on view through Sept. 8 at Ace/121 Gallery [hours: Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to
4 p.m.].
The personal is political, a slogan used in the 1960s by the student movement and second wave feminism, emphasizes the connections between personal experiences and socio-political structures. “Reimagining America” addresses the myriad issues in times of personal, social and economic uncertainties. The show explores the way images can move us by constructing and changing our social reality.
Artists were invited to submit work that created discussions of power between people, real or imagined. The show is an interpretation of how America can be reimagined through art and active participation.
Reception will be held on Sunday, Aug. 12 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

BURGERS, BEER, AND BAND NIGHT AT MC GROARTY
McGroarty Arts Center is hosting a Burgers, Beer and Band Night on Aug. 25 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at its historic location in Tujunga. The concert is featuring Seize the Night, a high-energy band performing classic rock to modern pop.
All are welcome. Burger plate is $15; beer/wine is $5, sodas are $1. Desserts are on average $2.

Bolton Hall Museum’s monthly second Saturday programs return with with the story of Rockhaven on Sept. 8 at 1 p.m.
Rockhaven, located in La Crescenta, was established in 1923 as a refuge for women with mild mental and nervous disorders and is now owned by the City of Glendale. Program speaker Joanna Linkchorst, president of Friends of Rockhaven, will share some of the remarkable stories associated with Rockhaven and hopes for the future. Gentle/level one yoga classes continue on Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s of the Mountains Church.

A stroke support group hosted by Dignity Health Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center meets the second Tuesday of each month from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Rehabilitation Conference Room on the third floor of the hospital.
The support group is open to caregivers, family members, friends and stroke survivors and will help with communication, education, and coping styles while building friendships, solving problems and sharing resources and experience.

FREE DIABETES COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLASS
The Diabetes Care Center at Glendale Adventist Medical Center invites the community to a free diabetes community education class held every Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the hospital (Committee Room A).
Participants will learn more about living with diabetes – care and treatment, healthy eating strategies – the importance of blood glucose monitoring and AIC and tools for healthy life style to reduce the risk of complications.

BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP AT Y
The Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA, in partnership with the La Leche League, is hosting a monthly lactation and infant development support group to help support new mothers. This monthly group meets on the third Friday of each month from noon-1 p.m. This group is free and open to the community and will answer all breastfeeding-related questions that new mothers may have.
The Y is also offering a Mindful Parenting Course designed to help parents connect to their children and raise them to thrive. This course is adapted from the work of Dan Siegal, M.D and will focus on reducing daily stress while connecting with your child. The classes meet weekly on Tuesdays. The course is open to all and there is a fee to attend.

FREE STROKE SUPPORT GROUP, AND HEART LECTURE
A stroke support group hosted by Dignity Health Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center meets the second Tuesday of each month from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Rehabilitation Conference Room on the third floor of the hospital.
The support group is open to caregivers, family members, friends and stroke survivors and will help with communication, education, and coping styles while building friendships, solving problems and sharing resources and experience.

COURSES AVAILABLE ON RELIEVING FINANCIAL STRESS
Life Improvement Courses are offered on “Principles of Prosperity,” “How to Obtain Financial Security” and “Overcoming Financial Stress” at the Church of Scientology Mission of the Foothills.
These courses help empower a person with the knowledge to overcome financial stress to prosper in life. Each course is $50, is done at the individual’s own pace and timing is flexible. A stress-free financial future can be attained and having the right knowledge can make all the difference.
These are just a few of the life improvement courses offered. Others available address various subjects. The classes are open Monday-Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Foothills Professional Group meets every Wednesday morning from 7:45 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Leon Lounge and Café.
