Mix It Up

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce is announcing its August business mixer in recognition of the 40th anniversary of the ABC Network hit TV series “The Love Boat!” This mixer will be held at the Center for Spiritual Living, 4845 Dunsmore Ave., on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. Jeraldine Saunders – author, producer, humanitarian, astrologer and the first woman to cross the gender line as the first female cruise director on a major cruise line – will be in attendance. The TV series was based on her real life adventures at sea described in her bestselling book “The Love Boats.” The first “Love Boat” TV series aired in 1978 and is still in syndication worldwide.

The Center for Spiritual Living, on the other hand, was founded in 1926. Based in Golden, Colorado, Centers for Spiritual Living is a global community composed of more than 400 spiritual communities, teaching chapters, study groups and other ministries in 30 countries. The Center was founded on the tenets of New Thought philosophy that bring religion and science together and offer spiritual tools to transform personal lives and help make the world a better place. This is done through the study and practice of Science of Mind and Spirit, also known as Religious Science, which holds that all life is sacred – that each human being is an expression of God. People of all spiritual paths – Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and others – are welcome in their communities. They help people experience a personal relationship with the creator; promote a community of tolerance, understanding and respect; provide classes, programs, prayer and meditation; and advocate a safe spiritual community of like-minded people interested in living a spiritual life.

Mixers are a great way to connect with new people, share your business product and exchange ideas. Also, did you know every month we have a Chamber member drawing? The pot is growing and it’s now worth $300! You can’t win if you’re not there. So come join us for some drinks and hors d’oeuvres, and bring a friend or associate with you. The more the merrier!

Don’t forget to join the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station as they celebrate the 35th anniversary of National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come out to the Briggs Station at 4554 Briggs Ave. and meet some old neighbors, make some new friends and get to know the people who might save your life one day! There will be a number of booths from various community organizations, some hot rods and, last but not least, a free hot dog meal!
