The Pacific League Cross Country meet on Wednesday, Oct. 13, was held at the Arcadia home course.
This year Arcadia High School has taken the dominant rankings not only at the local league, but at the state level as well.
Showing a consistent winning streak, the Arcadia boys varsity team won hands down and are rated now number one in the rankings for Division 1 by Rich Gonzalez, editor of DyeStatCal. Arcadia’s lead runner, senior Ammar Moussa, a CIF state winner, has returned to spur his teammates on, running (14:40.31) with teammate Sergio Gonzalez (14:40.91 by his side.
Burroughs lead man Anthony Monroe, who won at the Staub Meet Invitational, came in third (14:42.12) while the next four positions were grabbed by Arcadia.
CV’s primary varsity runner, junior Mike Duncan, kept close to the lead pack and grabbed eighth with a time of (15:17.72). Fellow junior David Owens was the second place runner for CV placing19th (16:14.47) followed by CV’s Bob Anderson, another junior, who placed 23rd (16:25.41) and senior Cory Williams who placed 25th (16:41.69) in the rankings for the three-mile course.
The varsity girls were led by Arcadia senior Catrina McAlister who was one of the CIF state finalists last year in Cross Country. She placed first (17:48.28) while her two other teammates took second and third places.
McKenzie Paul (18:10.25) of Burbank placed fourth, with CV lead runners seniors Anneke Kakebeen (18:12.03) taking fifth and Claudia Pham (18:13.53) placing sixth. CV sophomore Cali King ran (18:14:46) placing seventh and Brook Moultrie (18:43.56) placed 12th in the overall standings.
