The California Dept. of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to fully close a segment of the northbound State Route 2 (SR-2) on two separate evenings, Wednesday, Sept. 19 and Thursday, Sept. 20, from 11:55 p.m. until 5 a.m. to install overhead signs across the freeway.
Motorists traveling on northbound SR-2 will be diverted to the Mountain Avenue off-ramp and be detoured northbound on Verdugo Road in order to connect to Interstate 210 (Foothill Freeway). A signed detour will be posted for motorists.
An additional full evening closure may occur the following evening in case the installation is not completed.
Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes or avoid the area. Drivers are advised to plan ahead, and can check real-time traffic information using the Caltrans QuickMap, or by downloading the QuickMap app for free.
The work on I-210 is part of a $148.5 million pavement rehabilitation project for a 9.7-mile section from the La Crescenta-Montrose area of Los Angeles County to Pasadena.
