GUSD Nominated for National LifeChanger of the Year Award

Allan F. Daily High School English teacher Donna Mohamadi has been nominated for the 2018-19 national LifeChanger of the Year award.

Mohamadi was recognized as a LifeChanger in her community for supporting and inspiring vulnerable populations of students. She has not only taught them needed skills, but she has also given them the confidence and tools to succeed in life beyond high school. Students often gravitate to her positivity and welcoming classroom environment.

Mohamadi was nominated by her colleague Jamie Alarcon.

“Her calm and loving demeanor allows students to feel from their first time meeting her that they are welcome and that they are loved,” Alarcon said. “Donna is a champion for every student, for every staff member, and for the community as a whole. For her incredible tenure in education, Donna deserves the title of a LifeChanger for the students of Glendale Unified School District.”

Sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation, LifeChanger of the Year recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership.

Each school year, LifeChanger of the Year receives hundreds of nominations from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Seventeen individual LifeChanger of the Year awards will be given during the 2018-19 school year.

Winners receive cash prizes. Winners are announced via surprise award ceremonies held at their schools. The grand prize finalists will also be honored at a national awards ceremony in April 2019 in Hawaii, where the grand prize winner will be revealed.
