The Community College League of California honored local businessman and Glendale Community College (GCC) graduate Dave Greenbaum with its annual Distinguished Alumni Award. The award was presented on Friday, Nov. 17 during the League’s annual convention in San Jose.
Greenbaum, a graduate of Glendale High School, attended GCC prior to 1980 when he started his own company that specializes in flooring installation supplies. Since that time, David C. Greenbaum Co. has grown to 30 employees. In 1987, he joined the Glendale College Foundation as a way to “give back” to the college.
Over the last 30 years, Greenbaum has served in leadership positions in more than a dozen local organizations including national director U.S. Jaycees, VP Glendale Kiwanis Club, chairman of Glendale Salvation Army Advisory Board, and as president of many other organizations.
“My experiences at the College propelled me into a lifetime of community participation or, as we call it today, civic engagement,” said Greenbaum. “At the College I learned the value of community and the rewards that come with participation. The many individuals I have served with have enriched my life.”
