Deb Ann Orfalea, president of Glendale Area Alumnae Panhellenic, recently hosted a holiday party for members and guests at her home in Glendale. La Cañada members who attended the event included Janice Paul (Delta Delta Delta), Elaine Chapman (Kappa Kappa Gamma), Lynne Graves (Alpha Delta Pi), Marta de Paula Cea (Pi Beta Phi) who joined Cathy Daniel of South Pasadena.
The Glendale Area Alumnae Panhellenic is a non-profit, community-based organization encompassing the Glendale, Burbank, La Cañada, La Crescenta, Sunland and Tujunga areas with member volunteers from many of the 26 sororities recognized by the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). Celebrating their 66th year, their charter is to support today’s young women in their pursuit of higher education.
The organization will host a scholarship social on Feb. 20 at Salem Lutheran Church for area high school senior women planning to attend a four-year college/university upon graduation from high school. Attendees at the social will hear about scholarship opportunities as well as information on what a sorority membership offers young women.
To raise scholarship money each year, the group has an annual benefit luncheon. The 2014 luncheon will be held on March 22 at Oakmont Country Club, featuring the Towne Singers Chamber Choir as featured entertainment. Reservations are required; cost is $60 per adult and $35 for children 12 years old and younger.
Information on the group and these events can be found at www.glendalepanhellenic.org.
