The La Crescenta Woman’s Club is hosting its first antique show and appraisal event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the clubhouse, located at 4004 La Crescenta Ave. in La Crescenta.
Jackie Fimbres of Crown City Antiques in Montrose will be on site to appraise collectibles for $5 each with a five-item limit per household. All proceeds will be donated to the woman’s club.
About a dozen vendors will also be at the clubhouse, selling collectible items such as china, books, orchids and other exotic plants. The woman’s club will use the funds raised to repair the clubhouse, which was built in 1925.
“We have the original plumbing and heating systems and we need to do some repair on the parking lot,” said chairman of the event Sandy Satterwhite. “We need to raise quite a bit of money.”
Satterwhite estimates that $50,000 will be needed to do a full repair, and hopes that Saturday’s event will raise at least $5,000.
Complimentary coffee and tea will be served. Hot dogs, chips and soda will be available for lunch for $4.50.
Rebecca Fletcher, a vendor who will be at the antique show, is looking forward to Saturday and seeing the interesting items brought in for appraisal and the unique merchandise that will be for sale.
“Collectors are always very fun people,” Flectcher said. “I think it will be fun to see what everybody will be selling.”
