La Crescenta Woman’s Club is among several organizations accepting applications from seniors attending GUSD schools or who live in the GUSD area and attend private schools or are homeschooled.

The LCWC Scholarship Committee is at work reviewing applications already received to determine who will receive a $1,000 or $500 scholarship in 2024. The deadline to apply is March 1.

Scholarships are awarded in a variety of categories including all around great seniors, good GPAs and for those planning to attend a four- year college.

The Dick Huntwork Memorial Scholarship will be given to a senior majoring in science, math or engineering. The Roberta Kurtz Memorial Scholarship will be granted to one person majoring in the fine arts, music, art or graphic arts. The Deanna Alfeld Memorial Scholarship will be given to a person majoring in history, English, teaching or accounting. The Donna Dieny Memorial Scholarship will be awarded for someone planning to attend community college or trade school.

Another organization, the Glendale Assistance League, is also awarding a $2,000 scholarship to one student from each of the GUSD high schools. Applicants should check with their school counselor for more organizations offering scholarships or visit the organizations’ websites for more information.
