Work continues on this year’s Showcase House of Design. Originally known as The Flint House for its first owners Robert and Margaret Flint, the 8,200 square foot house featured 17 rooms, and was built at a cost of $28,000, compared with the $5,000 cost of an average home of that time.
Another noted owner was Philip Chandler, son of Harry Chandler, the publisher of the Los Angeles Times. The house was designed by Stiles O. Clements, noted architect of El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and the Mayan Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
Tackling the nursery and adjourning bath is A. Peltier Interiors.
The founder of A. Peltier Interiors is Amy Peltier. For the nursery, she is planning to incorporate soothing green tones for the wallpaper with pops of color. The slightly curved ceiling will be showcased and the original windows will be retained.
The palette of the nursery will be carried into the adjourning bath with more neutral tones being utilized. Fun tile that is reminiscent of bubbles will also be used.
