Over a recent weekend, the Boy Scouts of Troop 319 hosted their annual recruitment event inviting Webelos from local packs to come out to Vasquez Rocks.

There the Scouts put on a clinic of the proper way to rappel off the edge of the rock formations. The lesson that a Scout is trustworthy was learned by the end of the day as the new recruits dangled over 60 foot cliffs trusting only their belayer to keep them safe. As is the troop’s custom, the Scouts always bring along a copy or two of the CV Weekly to read around the campfire and catch up on our local news.
