Since the early 1950s, the Kiwanis Club has been recognizing an individual for La Cañadan of the Year. The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada will be selecting an outstanding citizen from the community to be honored. This year the Kiwanis Noon Club selection committee, led by Tyler Wright, CEO of the YMCA, gathered together to begin the selection process. The public is being asked to join with the committee in the process by nominating some member of the community who has demonstrated strong evidence of “giving back” and community leadership and deserves to be honored. Longtime La Cañada volunteer Martha Burns was honored last year.
The selected citizen will be honored at a special luncheon provided by the Kiwanis Club on Wednesday, April 27 at 11:15 a.m. at Van de Kamp Hall at Descanso Gardens. Members of the public are invited to attend and join in honoring this outstanding citizen. The recipient will be announced in late March.
Nomination forms are available at the LCF Chamber of Commerce, city hall, and the library. For further information contact Tyler Wright at (818) 790-0123. He can also be reached by email at twright@ymcafoothills.org.
