The University of Rhode Island announced that 4,986 undergraduates have qualified for the fall 2015 dean’s list. The students represent nearly all of Rhode Island’s cities and towns, all six New England states, New York and New Jersey, other states and 18 countries.

Among those named was Eduardo Hermosillo Guzman of Tujunga.

To be included on the dean’s list, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average qualify for the dean’s list. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 credits with a 3.30 quality point average.

Lauren Guzman of Glendale has earned placement on the Gonzaga University dean’s list for fall semester 2015. Students must earn a 3.5 to 3.69 grade-point average to be listed.

Liam Cascelli of Glendale and Monica Lyons and Abigail Salter of La Cañada have earned placement on the Gonzaga University president’s list for fall semester 2015. Students must earn a 3.7 to 4.0 grade-point average to be listed.

Gonzaga University is a humanistic, private Catholic University providing a Jesuit education to more than 7,500 students. Situated along the Spokane River near downtown Spokane, Washington, Gonzaga is routinely recognized among the West’s best comprehensive regional universities.

Claire Kostelnik of Glendale was awarded dean’s list academic honors for the fall 2015 semester at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Dean’s list honors are awarded to full-time students at St. Mary’s College who earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or better on 12 or more graded credits.

St. Mary’s College is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and is one of only two public honors colleges in the nation. Dedicated to providing an affordable liberal arts education for a diverse student body, the college has one of the highest four-year graduation rate of any public college or university in the state.

Stephanie M. Green of La Cañada was among 2,600 students who were on the Wichita State University dean’s honor roll for fall 2015. To be included on the dean’s honor roll, a student must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours) and earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

WSU enrolls about 14,500 students and offers more than 60 undergraduate degree programs in more than 150 areas of study in six undergraduate colleges. The graduate school also offers an extensive program.

Tufts University recently announced the dean’s list for undergraduate students enrolled for the fall 2015 semester. These included Anise Applebaum, Charlotte Leis, Olivia Markowitz, Jun Hyuk Sung and Samuel Whitefield of La Cañada Flintridge.

Dean’s list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.

Zoe McWatters from La Cañada has been named to the 2015 fall semester dean’s list at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must complete 12 or more letter-graded credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average.

Dojun Kim of La Crescenta was named a “Cadet of Distinction” at Army and Navy Academy. This title is given to students who have achieved the highest citizenship grade attainable (excellent) and zero demerits for the entire second grading period of the 2015-16 school year.

Cadets of Distinction exhibit a strong commitment to the Academy’s unique character education program. They exemplify the Academy’s mission of educating, mentoring, and developing good character and leadership in young men.

Kim was also named to the dean’s list for the 2015-16 school year.

Founded in 1910, the Army and Navy Academy is a private not-for-profit institution that provides an academically robust, character-based education for young men, grades seven through 12. It is the only private boarding school in San Diego County and the only private military academy for high school-age students in California and surrounding states.

Shaun Troy of Tujunga was among those who earned placement on Quincy University’s dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester. Honorees must earn a semester grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) to be included in the biannual dean’s list. In total, 332 students received the honor during the fall 2015 semester.

Founded in 1860 by Franciscan friars, Quincy University (www.quincy.edu) in Illinois is a Catholic, co-educational, residential university offering undergraduate, graduate, and adult education programs that integrate liberal arts, active learning, practical experience, and Franciscan values.

Caitlin Connell, who is studying Russian and environmental studies, and Margaret Connell, who is studying political science and computer science, have been named to the St. Olaf College dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester.

Both are graduates from Crescenta Valley High School and daughters of Brian Connell and Gail Connell

The dean’s list recognizes students with a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4-point scale.

Abigail Roberts of Tujunga was named to the dean’s list at Simpson University in Redding for the fall 2015 semester.

Roberts is majoring in liberal studies.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must have a semester grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher.

Arpeni Mael from Glendale has been named to the UMass Dartmouth fall 2015 dean’s list. To be named to the dean’s list a student must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher out of a possible 4.0.

Local students were named to the dean’s list at Bucknell University during the fall semester of the 2015-16 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition.

Stephanie Beck and Brandon Newquist of La Cañada, both graduated from La Cañada Hight School, were named to the dean’s list.
