Verdugo Hills Hospital (VHH) announced the appointment of Darrell Spence as chair of the VHH Foundation board.

Spence joined the VHH Foundation board in 2007 and has served as both treasurer and vice-chairman. He lives in Pasadena with his wife Sarah and two daughters, both of whom were born at VHH. Spence and his wife grew up in La Cañada and his father, Dr. John Spence, was an anesthesiologist at VHH for nearly 30 years.

Spence is a vice president and economist for Capital Strategy Research, one of the Capital Group Companies. He joined the organization in 1992 after receiving his AB degree in Economics (cum laude) from Occidental College in Los Angeles. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, AIMR, and the National Association for Business Economics, as well as a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
