Congressman David Dreier (R-CA) announced the names of his nominees to the United States Air Force, Military, Naval and Merchant Marine Academies.

Local residents nominated to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo. are Alexandra Preiss of La Cañada Flintridge and Ian Taylor of La Crescenta.

Nominated to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. are Joanne Oh and Stephen Oh of La Cañada Flintridge.

Nominated to attend the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md. are Matthew Faber of La Cañada Flintridge and Ian Taylor from La Crescenta.

Nominated to attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y. are Matthew Faber and Joanne Oh and Lisa Stevens, both from La Crescenta.

“I am pleased to nominate these young people for admittance to our nation’s service academies,” said Dreier. “They are an incredibly talented and dedicated group. Each would give outstanding service to our nation as a military officer.”

The nominees will now compete with other nominees from around the nation for the available positions in the class that will enter the academies this July.
