Dignity Health-Glendale Memorial Hospital’s Cardiac Fitness Center’s 23rd Annual King and Queen of Hearts celebration welcomed over 150 people from the surrounding communities on Feb. 15 to witness the inauguration of five deserving cardiac fitness patients to the 2018 royal court. The guests listened to lectures by Dr. Tenser on stroke prevention, Dr. Ahmadi-Kashani on peripheral vascular disease and Dr. O’Connor on the “State of the Heart” for 2018.
Participants were treated to free carotid and peripheral vascular screening, body fat analysis, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, blood glucose testing and grip strength testing as well as hands-on sidewalk CPR training. Guests were able to visit educational stations sharing information about heart health living. The event ended with a delicious lunch.
The participating hospital departments included the Diabetes and Nutrition Clinic, Imaging Services, physical therapy, wound care, CSI, Women’s Services, Palliative Care, volunteers and the Foundation. These departments offered information about services offered at Dignity Health-Glendale Memorial Hospital. Community partners who volunteered and assisted at the event were the Glendale Community College nursing students and West Coast ultrasound students, and members of Bee Well Now and the American Heart Association.
