Supporters of the Glendale Education Foundation dressed the part of the Roaring ’20s at the annual diamonds gala held on Friday night at the Glen Arden Club in Glendale. The occasion not only was an excuse to don the attire of the ’20s but to also support the GEF and its celebration of alumni who made significant achievements in their fields.

Honored this year with the Hope Diamond Award was Hoover High School graduate Ani Zadorian. Glendale High School graduate Jennifer Berry received the Distinguished Achievement in the Arts award. Hoover High School graduate Marineh Tchakerian was recognized with the Distinguished Achievement in Science and Technology award and Glendale High School graduate Peter Navolanic was presented with the Premier Rose Diamond Award in recognition of his service and/or philanthropic efforts.

A generous donation of two necklaces was made by Orphan Jewel for opportunity ticket holders.

Mistress of ceremonies Jill Simonian kept things rolling along, introducing Marvel Ford, GEF president, then Dr. Vivian Ekchian, GUSD superintendent.

Then it was time to hit the dance floor – which was packed for the remainder of the evening proving that supporting a good cause was also a good excuse to kick up your heels.
