Brooks Appointed Chief Nursing Officer of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital

Janet Brooks was named chief nursing officer (CNO) of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, effective Feb. 1.

Brooks brings more than 40 years of health-care experience to USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, including 10 years in leadership roles as CNO and 30 years in nursing care. Other previous management roles include director of labor and delivery and assistant director of maternal child health.

“Janet is a strong nursing leader and an advocate for patient care and nursing,” said Debbie Walsh, CEO of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital. “I welcome Janet to the USC-VHH team, and look forward to working together to continue to provide exceptional patient care to the foothill communities.”

Brooks’ most recent position was CNO of West Hills Hospital and Medical Center in West Hills. Before that, she served as associate administrator at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Hollywood.

A 32-year resident of Simi Valley, Brooks is vice president of the San Fernando Valley chapter of the Association of California Nurse Leaders and past president of the Nursing Leadership Council of the Hospital Association of Southern California.

Brooks earned her Master of Nursing from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Master of Business Administration from California State University, Northridge.
