Spring is just about here, so it’s time to put away long sleeves in favor of some lighter clothes. On Saturday, the La Crescenta Woman’s Club embraced the coming season by hosting a fashion show to present the new spring designs from Talbots.
This year’s theme was “Step Into Spring” and a strappy high heel, drawn by club member Gloria Beyer, adorned the front cover of the afternoon program. Continuing the spring theme, attendees were seated at brightly decorated floral patterned tables. As club members enjoyed the décor, they also participated in a silent auction that offered everything from See’s Candies gift baskets to soaps and candles.
Before lunch was served a live auction was held allowing members the opportunity to bid on prizes like dinner for six with local firemen and VIP tickets to see the Ellen Degeneres Show.
Local teens from the Fire House youth center volunteered to serve lunch. The Fire House provides a place for high school students to hang out, eat some good food, and do homework on Tuesday evenings and college students on Mondays. It is one of two programs that the LCWC donated a portion of the proceeds raised from the fashion show. The other was Saddles for Soldiers, which uses therapy horses for soldiers returning from overseas.
Vicki Guagliardo was the enthusiastic commentator for the fashion show. She introduced all the models, who were members of the Woman’s Club, and their outfits. Models made their way between tables to give the patrons a better look at what to wear this spring.
