Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (PSHA), which supports local music education with one of the nation’s oldest and most successful house and garden tours, announced that Vikki Sung has been selected as the benefit chair for the 2018 Pasadena Showcase House of Design.
Volunteerism has been a large part of Sung’s life for more than 20 years. She began volunteering with the American Women’s Association of Hong Kong shortly after moving there with her husband in 1997. Returning to the U.S. with twins, she began her service in the PTA when her children reached school age.
She has served on the board of Carver PTA and as president of the Carver Enrichment Fund. She was troop leader for her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop and served three years as service unit co-manager for the San Marino Girl Scouts, as well as several years as co-director of San Marino Girl Scouts’ Twilight Camp at Lacy Park.
Since joining PSHA in 2012, Sung has served in various positions on the board. As benefit chair, Sung oversees the development of the 54th Pasadena Showcase House of Design, ensuring that all aspects of this fundraising project come together to provide visitors to the Showcase House a very memorable experience.
“I feel honored to have been asked to chair the Pasadena Showcase House of Design this year,” said Sung. “I hope to rise up to the many challenges that will come my way and look forward to building camaraderie and friendship in the process. More importantly, I am excited to be part of the long standing efforts to raise money for music and the arts in our community.”
Sung went on to describe the 2018 Showcase House as having a “cool, contemporary vibe.” Renovations began anew after the estate was presented as the 2002 Pasadena Showcase House of Design. Subsequent owners added design-forward elements to suit their personal taste and lifestyle, making it an eclectic blend of unique living spaces. As a result, the interiors and gardens will be a bit more modern and edgy than in the past.
The Showcase House of Design is open from April 22 through May 20. Tickets to the Showcase House are now on sale and available at https://tinyurl.com/ybuffjzb or by calling (626) 578-8500.
