In January, the San Gabriel Valley District Woman’s Clubs had their annual craft contest. Sally Benson, an eight-year member of the La Crescenta Woman’s Club, not only won first place in the embroidery category, but also took home Members’ Choice and the Best of Show ribbons. Her work of art was titled, “3 Sisters Flying Kites.” Benson spent many hours cross-stitching the award-winning piece.

Ten woman’s clubs in the San Gabriel Valley entered the contest. There were 54 entries in all and the La Crescenta Woman’s Club had six entries in various categories. Arline Elizagary took home first place with her hand-knit afghan, Sandra Satterwhite placed second with her crocheted shrug and hat and Maryann Baghdasarian took home second place with her hand crafted Christmas decoration.

The La Crescenta Woman’s Club boasts many talented and active members who volunteer their time and talents to help the community through events, scholarships and various philanthropic endeavors. Anyone interested in getting more information about membership can call Dawna Berger at (818) 957-6939.
