Community Center Distributes over $22,000 in Fire Relief Funds

The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge (CCLCF) has distributed over $22,000 in donations to 12 families and two schools devastated by the Eaton fires. The Fire Relief Fund collected over $19,000 in donations from community members and another $3,000 was raised from CCLCF’s recent Western Round Up silent auction. Fair Oaks School and St. Mark’s School, two Altadena schools that lost everything in the fire, also received a portion of the money for their own recovery funds.

The Community Center has been hosting Fair Oaks School at its facility at no cost since February while the school is searching for a new building.

Irene Mason, director of Advancement at Saint Mark’s School, was appreciative of the donation.

“What a kind and generous gift to our school,” said Mason. “We are grateful for the partnership of our greater community during this time.”

Applications for assistance were accepted online through March 14. An eight-member Fire Relief Oversite Committee composed of center directors, board members and preschool parent committee members reviewed the applications and directed the disbursement amounts.
