Sports attorney/agent Leigh Steinburg, a California graduate who represented such sports figures as Steve Bartkowski, Troy Aikman and Warrick Dunn, was the keynote speaker at the La Cañada Kiwanis Club recently.

The recovering alcoholic and sports legend spoke to members of the Kiwanis Club at its weekly luncheon meeting at Descanso Gardens. The movie “Jerry McGuire” was loosely based on Steinburg’s life experiences.

He spoke about his support of community and philanthropy and held the attention of the group with his stories of representing sports greats. The day of the meeting was also Steinburg’s birthday, which prompted the club’s members to help him celebrate it with a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” led by song leader Jack Dawson.
