Leadership Opportunity At Horse Camp

Altadena Stables is offering high school students and young adults the opportunity to cultivate leadership skills in a “stable” environment through their volunteer Horse Camp Counselor positions.

Experience engaging with children and horses is not necessary as long as the individual has the desire and willingness to learn. Counselor training sessions, involving horse handling, will focus on safety and components of leadership including awareness, assertiveness, verbal and nonverbal communication, and emotional intelligence.

The first training session is on Saturday, April 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Altadena Stables. For the individual who has a conflict with this date, there is a possibility of other arrangements. Additional training sessions will be required for all participants.

Altadena Stables has been running successful horse camps for more than 25 years. Training sessions and camps are directed by professional horse trainer, instructor, and former schoolteacher Teri Botfield. Her years of experience bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to these programs.

Volunteer counselors may be able to use this valuable experience to fulfill their required service hours. All participants for the training session must register in advance. For more information and to register, call the stables at (626) 797-2012.
