Planning for the 10th Annual Jewels of Glendale Luncheon

The Glendale Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is holding its 10th Annual Jewels of Glendale: Women of Courage Awards Luncheon on Thursday, May 8 at the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale.

This year, the commission is honoring as Women of Courage: Shanesha Franklin, Carmen Azinian Libaridian, Carrian Myers, Colonel Nancy J. Sumner, Sona Yacoubian and Cherie Zaun. Special Chair’s Recognition is being extended to Ann H. Ransford. The Gem Scholarship Award is being presented to Audria Amirian and the Gemstone Scholarship Award is being given to Meghedie Dersarkissian.

The Jewels of Glendale: Women of Courage Award recognizes, honors, and raises the visibility of outstanding Glendale women who have – through strength, courage, and persistence – overcome hardship (physical, financial or emotional) to become strong, positive role models in the community.

The Gem of Glendale Award and the Gemstone of Glendale Award are $1,000 scholarships awarded to an outstanding high school student and a Glendale veteran, respectively, who are engaged in community service that reflects the core values and mission of the Commission on the Status of Women. Both awards recognize individuals who have been very involved in the community, help raise awareness for women, are positive role models and are working towards furthering their career with higher education.

The event begins at 11 a.m. with the social hour and silent auction; lunch is served at noon. The mistress of ceremonies is Lisa Bowman.

Tickets are $65 per guest ($30 for students). Ticket deadline is Thursday, May 1.
