Glendale City Clerk Ardashes “Ardy” Kassakhian has been tapped to serve as the master of ceremonies at The Campbell Center’s 24th Annual Derby Day event – the organization’s signature fundraiser. Held each year on the first Saturday in May in conjunction with the Kentucky Derby, Derby Day raises funds to support The Campbell Center’s programs and services to the more than 110 clients the agency serves daily. This year’s event is on Saturday, May 2 at Pickwick Banquet Center in Burbank.
“The selection of Ardy was an easy decision to make,” said Lt. Lola Abrahamian, president of The Campbell Center Foundation’s board of directors. “We were very fortunate to have Ardy as our auctioneer at our last year’s Derby Day and he did such a super job we wanted him involved again, this time as our emcee.”
Derby Day is one the most anticipated annual “happenings” and typically draws close to 300 supporters who partake in the afternoon’s various fun activities, including silent and live auctions, a lavish buffet luncheon, the presentation of the Campbell Award of Excellence, accompanied by the streaming of the Kentucky Derby live from Churchill Downs. Among the guests scheduled to attend are several elected and appointed members from the City of Glendale.
