Terry M. Walker, chosen by the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada as La Canadan of the Year, will be honored on Wednesday, May 2 at 11:45 a.m. at the club’s weekly meeting at Van de Kamp Hall at Descanso Gardens.
Walker is the former vice president and director of Human Resources of the Allen Lund Company, and current practice manager and owner of La Cañada Pet Clinic. She retired from her management role at Lund in 2010 to help in her family’s business. Earlier in her management career, Walker served as a Financial Services officer at the La Cañada Flintridge branch of the Bank of America. She is the current LCF Chamber of Commerce Centennial Year co-chair and has been active in the LCF community for many years, immersing herself in the chamber activities since 1997. She has been on the board of directors since 1997 serving as president in 2003, 2004 and 2005. More recently she served in several community leadership roles including a commissioner on City Public Works, and a member of the Green Task Force, and the City of La Cañada Flintridge Solid Waste subcommittee. In 2008 she took on a leadership role in the YMCA of the Foothills Association Board of Directors as executive secretary.
A fourth generation Californian, Walke was born in Santa Monica and has been a resident of La Cañada Flintridge for the past 31 years.
An avid fan of the city, she notes that she has not only had the good fortune of living in La Cañada Flintridge for so many years but also working in it, boasting, “My commute to work has never been over a mile!”
