On April 15, CV Church hosted its sixth annual free Easter egg hunt at Two Strike Park. Approximately 1,200 people attended the one-hour event, held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The park was divided in three sections, each section based on the ages of the children participating. A smaller section was reserved for preschoolers while a larger section was divided between children in grades from first to third grades and children in grades from fourth to sixth. Members of the CV Church had been preparing for the festive event months in advance and prepared over 28,000 plastic eggs.
“Everyone is smiling and I just love that. Everyone is happy. [The Easter egg hunt] is just a joy,” said Kathe Wood, who has been wtih CV Church for the past 25 years.
La Crescenta resident Polly Jackson shared similar sentiments.
“I think it’s so amazing there are so many eggs. Everyone walks away with something,” Jackson said. “Even when I had a 1- or 2-year-old, he got at least one egg. The weather isn’t bad either.” Jackson said she has been taking her 7-year-old to the event for the past 6 years.
Before the hunt began, Pastor Scott Wood of CV Church requested parents help children who might struggle to find eggs so every child could take home at least one treat. Once the sound of the horn rang throughout Two Strike Park, frenzied and excited children, dressed in their Easter best, quickly gathered as many eggs in their baskets as possible.
