Holy Family High School Names Head of School

Holy Family High School College Preparatory announced the appointment of Dr. Joe Reiken as its new head of school. Dr. Reiken will join Holy Family High School beginning July 1.

Dr. Reiken was selected from a pool of candidates for his extensive experience in leadership and curriculum development. Currently, he serves as senior director of Academic and Strategic Advancement at Bishop Diego High School in Santa Barbara. Dr. Reiken has led several initiatives at Bishop Diego, including major reorganization of the school’s academic program, the development of Bishop Diego’s character formation initiative, and leading the professional growth and renewal program for faculty. Dr. Reiken was also instrumental in developing a long-term enrollment management plan with Bishop’s director of Admission and an academic strategic plan to serve the Bishop Diego community over the next several years. Dr. Reiken has also served as Bishop’s mathematics department chair for four years and assistant head of school for six years.

“I am honored and excited to be selected as Holy Family’s next Head of School,” said Dr. Reiken. “I am excited to be joining such a wonderful, Catholic community to continue stewarding the traditions of Holy Family while leading the school into the future”.

Dr. Reiken, a Southern California native, completed his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He holds a California administrative credential, and has also served as an adjunct professor of Education for the University of La Verne.

Dr. Reiken has enjoyed teaching mathematics to hundreds of students and was awarded the Most Impactful Teacher by the Class of 2013.

Holy Family High School College Preparatory is a Catholic high school founded in 1937 by the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary that serves the educational needs of women in the city of Glendale.
