Veterans Corner May 2017

By Andy GERO

To all veterans of Crescenta Valley and the surrounding communities, we are eternally grateful for the sacrifice and service you gave to our country. Your service has played a major role in giving us the freedoms so many of us take for granted today.

In gratitude for your service, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) posts, in concert with our national organizations, are here to serve you. We cordially invite you to attend any or all of our meetings. We are available to help you file for benefits claims, get answers for your health care, help you with your GI Bill benefits, assist you in job research, assist you in correcting your military records or discharge status, provide support for homeless veterans and much more. Both Posts are pro-active in supporting youth programs in our community.

The American Legion Post 288 has its monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The VFW Post 1614 has its monthly meeting on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Both meetings are held at our Memorial Hall at 4011 La Crescenta Ave. in La Crescenta. Join us to share your experience and meet your military comrades.

Each of our meeting ceremonies is memorable. We always pay tribute to our military personal who are Missing in Action/Prisoners of War (MIA/POW). After each meeting we meet for refreshments and camaraderie. Families are welcome; membership is not a requirement.
