VFW Post 1614 Celebrates Diamond Anniversary

VFW Post 1614 in La Crescenta celebrated 75 years of serving the needs of local veterans and their families on June 8. The Diamond Anniversary Award Citation was presented to the Post in recognition of 75 years of outstanding service to the community.

William A. Thien, national commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S., congratulated all members of the Post.

“I send my sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of VFW Post 1614 for the outstanding record of service to the community, veterans and to the nation over the past 75 years,” said Thien.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. is a nonprofit veterans’ service organization comprised of combat veterans and eligible military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces. Founded in 1899 and chartered by Congress in 1936, the VFW is the nation’s largest organization of war veterans and its oldest major veterans’ organization. With more than 1.9 million VFW and auxiliary members located in almost 7,000 Posts worldwide, “no one does more for veterans.” The VFW and its auxiliaries are dedicated to veterans’ service, legislative advocacy, and military and community service programs worldwide.
