The following residents were among a select group of students recognized at Colorado College’s honors convocation held recently in Shove Memorial Chapel:
Mallory LeeWong, a member of the Colorado College Class of 2012 and an international political econ major, received the Chinese Language Award. LeeWong is a resident of La Cañada Flintridge and the daughter of Elaine and John LeeWong.
Gabrielle Lyng, a member of the Colorado College Class of 2013 and a biology and Spanish: Hispanic Studies major, received the Felisa Llorente Spanish Book Award. Lyng is a resident of La Cañada and the daughter of Arun and Amelia Lyng.
At Drew University, student Riley J. Newman of La Crescenta has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester. In order to qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.4 or above, which is equivalent to a B+ or better.
Audrey Elizabeth Harris of La Crescenta, the daughter of George and Robin Harris and a sophomore studying psychology, placed on the dean’s list of Juniata College in Huntingdon, Penn. Harris is a 2010 graduate of Immaculate Heart High School.
The dean’s list recognizes students with a grade point average of at least 3.6 out of a possible 4.0.
The following local students graduated from Whitworth University: Matthew Kleinert and Christina Larsen of La Cañada Flintridge have been awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Bowdoin College held its 206th Commencement exercises on Saturday, May 28. The following Bowdoin College graduates are from your area:
Caitlin Clerkin of La Cañada graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Bowdoin majoring in Classical Archaeology.
Katharine Doubleday, also of La Cañada, graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Bowdoin, majoring in Biology and minoring in English.
Bachelor of Arts degrees were awarded to 440 students from 38 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and 10 foreign countries.
Matthew Brown of La Cañada Flintridge was awarded a bachelor of arts degree from Connecticut College at the 93rd commencement ceremony on May 22. Brown majored in sociology.
Annelise Thompson of La Cañada was one of 342 undergraduates named to Denison University’s spring 2011 semester dean’s list by Provost Bradley Bateman. Students who achieve dean’s list status have maintained a grade-point average of 3.7 or better (out of 4.0) for the semester.
Thompson majors in chemistry and is a member of the Denison class of 2013.
