Sommeliers pouring wines from around the globe were found at the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge for its inaugural Taste with the Somms on Sunday afternoon. Paired with a variety of specifically selected cheeses, the afternoon event provided an excellent opportunity to be educated on the complexities of the wines while having a chance to catch up with friends.
The event was coordinated with Le Petit Vendome owner Lynn Trann, who provided the sommeliers and the cheese expert.
“We wanted to have an event that showed one business reaching out to help another,” said CCLCF Executive Director Maureen Bond. “All the proceeds benefitted the Community Center. Lynn has a special place in her heart for us here at the Center because we both serve the community.”
In addition to having the chance to purchase any of the poured wines at a discount, two special bottles were raffled off to lucky winners.
Bond said that she is already looking forward to next year’s event.
“We know just by word of mouth that this event will grow next year,” she said. “We can easily handle 100 folks and would expand on the cheese and wines and have more somms next year.”
