Last summer, YMCA of the Foothills and the Gorvetzian family provided swim lessons to the community at no cost, teaching essential water safety and drowning prevention. This summer the Y will continue to provide free swim lessons as part of the Y’s Safety Around Water Inititiave.
Lessons will take place in two-week sessions at the Tierra del Sol campus in Sunland-Tujunga through Aug. 15. Lessons are available to all Sunland, Tujunga and Sun Valley residents who are non-swimmers. Lessons are free to children entering K-thrid grades and $25 for children entering fourth through eighth grades.
To register for a session, visit one of the branches with proof of residency in Sunland, Tujunga or Sun Valley and also bring a recent report card to verify grade level for enrollment. Visit https://www.ymcafoothills.org/saw.html for more info.
